What is a plaintiff? The party who initiates a lawsuit before a court.

What is a defendant? The party who is required to answer the complaint of a plaintiff in a civil lawsuit.

What are damages? Refers to the money paid or awarded to a plaintiff following their successful claim in a civil action.
