Y DEVELOPMENT OF USTAADS? by KEY CONSULTING - eseedat together we open the doors to management, teaching & learning

TYPES OF EDUCATORS the drive and the skills There are those who are locked in yesterday and today There are those who dream of tomorrow and even beyond And then there are those who have the commitment the drive and the skills to make such dreams come true.

IHSAAN is excellence in our worship of Allah SWT is derived from the root word “hasuna” which is to be beautiful, proper, good, appropriate etymologist Khurram Murad extends its application to all facets of our lives to mean “to do a thing well, to achieve excellence”

MUHASABAH is the gift of Imam Ghazzali RA to Muslims advocates ongoing introspection and self-evaluation in the quest for self-improvement should not be stop-start and unrelated activities should be an inner compulsion, an urge to excel

SO WHAT DO WE IMPROVE? If you look into a mirror and do not like what you see What will you do? Change the mirror? (Independent Quality Assurance Agency) Revealed knowledge will not change but the ustaad has to change to be relevant and to achieve excellence

SOME REALITIES IN OUR CLASSROOMS Children have changed Classroom Management has changed ICT based teaching and learning is a reality Integration of revealed and acquired knowledge is increasingly essential In addition to learning about Islam, children need “spiritual survival skills”

The story of the eagle

The eagle has the longest lifespan amongst birds

When it reaches its 40’s, its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey

Its long and sharp beak becomes bent

Then, the eagle is left with only two options: die or go through a painful process of change which lasts 150 days

The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and sit on its nest

There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out

After plucking it out, the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back and then it will pluck out its talons

When its new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking out its old, aged feathers

And after 5 months, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives for 30 more years

Why is change needed?

Many times, in order to survive, we have to start a change process

We sometimes need to get rid of old memories, habits and other past traditions

Only freed from past burdens, can we take advantage of the present

A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes

It is a catalyst, a spark that creates astonishing results

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, Not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life

When it rains, most birds head for shelter; the eagle is the only bird that, in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the cloud

If you focus on results, you will never change

If you focus on change, you will get results

Let’s change, to make a change!
