Student and Teacher Accomplishments The Class of 2011 (1442 graduates) college scholarship total was $38,273,152 . This exceeds last year’s total by $1.2 million. Aiken County Career & Technology Center: 167 graduates / completers ($113,425.00 in scholarship funds), Adult Education: 131 graduates (31 diplomas and 100 GED's) 305 Palmetto Fellows Scholarships 4 National Merit Scholars 1 Presidential Scholar 2010 The State Department of Education announced 102 Robert C. Byrd scholars with seven graduates from Aiken County Public Schools leading the way. With new additions in 2011, we now have over 100 National Board Certified Teachers in Aiken County.

Just a Sample of School Awards Academic/Arts/Service/Clubs/Career The Midland Valley High FFA Association- Top FFA chapter in South Carolina in student development for the third consecutive year. East Aiken School of the Arts- Named a Schools Fight Hunger National School of Distinction. North Augusta Elementary School – SC Riley Award Honorable Mention for SIC’s work to engage parents, community members and educators in strengthening their schools. Aiken County Career and Technology Center – USA Skills state championship for crime scene investigation 2nd year in a row. New Ellenton Middle School - State Quiz Bowl Middle School State Champions. Schofield Middle School – Schofield Band State Grand Champions Silver Bluff High- Track 2 X 400 relay undefeated and fastest in the state Wagener-Salley High- JROTC Rifle National Champs

Strategies for Accountability

An example of intervention strategies that are working: Redcliffe Elementary School 2009-2010 PASS results indicated math as a weak area. Based on input from the faculty, training on the use of a new textbook was an issue. The SIT arranged PD on the use of the textbook. The School Intervention Team also targeted students below grade level (Tier 1) for the following interventions: Success Maker/Compass Lab Math Tutor during the school day Student progress was monitored by MAP results and Success Maker reports.
