Welcome to Kindergarten! Mrs. Dewey PRA 2017-2018

Hi! I’m Mrs. Dewey! So nice to meet you!

Mrs. Rexroth - Full time Para!

Bee Books: Bring everything everyday 1/2” binder - fits perfectly in our cubbies Left - stays home and right- return Money pocket - dry erase marker, money, School calendar and our daily schedule Word Wall Letters Numbers chart Handwriting practice ABC’s of Kindergarten Fine motor skills Book sleeve - a book will go home weekly for students to practice in October Behavior chart

Abc’s to Kindergarten Birthdays: we will celebrate birthdays at school with non-edible treats. Snack: students bring a snack from home and a water bottle is recommended. Communication: you will receive emails from me (about once a week), information on the website, monthly GLC newsletters, weekly Miner Mail Messages, returned papers and flyers in Thursday folders Email: it’s the easiest and fasted way to communicate with me

Driveline We will have extra staff the first few days to help with kindergarteners find their cars and get used to the routine of driveline. Please talk to your child about what your car looks like and who will be picking them up each day. Driveline will take longer the first week or so of school, please be patient. While in driveline please don’t use your cell phone and drive slowly, we want to keep all staff and students safe.

First day of school You are welcome to come into the classroom with your kindergartener, please help them find their cubby and hook to hang up their backpack and find their seat By 8:25 and 12:25 I will ask any remaining parents to “hug and go” There will probably be some tears (from kids and parents) but, the tears always stop within a few minutes Mrs. Rexroth and I will take good care of your child

Second day of School and Beyond If needed, help your child find where to put their backpacks outside classrooms and watch from the the outside of fence Students will walk into the classroom without parents on the second day and beyond To help students learn independence and the routine of school, we ask that parents do not linger too long at drop off. Often times when parents linger students have a harder time at drop off. If your child is having a hard time at drop off please let one of the teachers on duty know and they can help

Communication Communication is key! I value my relationship with parents and want to make sure that everyone feels comfortable coming to me and asking questions. There will be multiple ways that I will communicate with you: My website Email me (quickest way to get ahold of me.) Bee books

Parent Volunteering I would love to have as many parents involved with my classroom as possible! There are several different ways you can help out. You can take home things that need to be cut or put together, file, laminate, or you can come into the classroom and work with all the kids. You will need to get training to be able to work with students in the classroom. You can contact ________________. Please fill out a volunteer sheet if you would like to dedicate some of your time to our classroom. The kinder team usually begins in class volunteering late October/early November, once we’ve had the opportunity to build routines with the students and they’ve built up a better stamina.

Solar Eclipse We will have eclipse glasses for students and staff to wear and will go over safety. Please go over safety with them at home- Don’t look directly at the sun without eclipse glasses. If you are concerned about how your child will react or they are extremely afraid of the dark- please keep them home that day.
