For one tenth, we write a one in the tenths place I say You Say I say, “One dime equals” You say, “One tenth of a dollar” 1 dime = For one tenth, we write a one in the tenths place = 0.1
For two tenths, we write a two in the tenths place I say You Say I say, “Two dime equal” You say, “Two tenths of a dollar” 2 dime = For two tenths, we write a two in the tenths place = 0.2 Now continue the pattern with 3 dimes, 4 dimes, 5 dimes, etc until you reach 10 dimes.

Miss V has made 10 party invitations Miss V has made 10 party invitations. She ran out of stamps and was only able to mail 4 of them. What decimal number represents the number of invitations that have been mailed? First, answer the question in fraction form. What fraction of the invitations has she mailed? Now, use our zero trick to change that fraction to a decimal number! The fraction that would represent this problem would be 4/10 There is 1 zero in the denominator, so write a decimal with one line behind it. Put the numerator on the line. The answer is 0.4
