What is The Magellan Exchange? CENET: Cultural Exchange Network Consortium of 31 partner schools 17 North America 13 Europe 1 Asia Facilitating economical international opportunities Coordinators at each partner school Annual conferences to strengthen relationships

Faculty Exchanges Short-term exchanges of 1-3 weeks Faculty member/home school provides transportation; host school provides a minimum of housing To participate, submit a brief application form and CV No Magellan application fee

Student Exchanges Summer, semester, or academic year exchanges Some internships possible Special programs available in some locations Pay tuition at home; pay housing abroad Courses available in English or host language Transcript provided

Application Process Online application + processing fee Deadlines $150 semester/academic year $75 summer/short-term Deadlines March 15 – Fall semester or academic year October 15 – Spring semester Various deadlines for summer/short-term programs

Application Process - Coordinator Login and select “Application List” Set desired parameters, and click search Export list, if desired Statuses: Pending – in progress Submitted – ready for coordinator approval Approved – ready for Magellan placement Placed – host school confirmed

Application Process – Coordinator Viewing/deleting applications Editing applications Approving applications Review content, destinations, etc. Language and quality assessments Approve/reject

Application Notes Documents section Essay section Transcript required – official/unofficial Resume, passport, etc. – optional Essay section Approx. ½ page Do not include special requests here, unless also sending by email Any special requests, projects, needs, concerns, etc. should be emailed by coordinator

Placement Process Semester/academic year applications -processed after deadlines Summer/short-term applications – first come, first served Confirm each school’s acceptable number of incoming students Most placements occur within 1-2 weeks of deadline

Host School Responsibilities (incoming) Provide incoming student applications to person issuing acceptance letters/other documentation Send instructions/information as soon as possible Advise home coordinator and/or Magellan office if there are any problems communicating with the students

Home School Responsibilities (outgoing) Assist students with selection of appropriate host school choices Ensure completion of compulsory registration processes, submission of additional paperwork, etc. Assist with student visa, if necessary
