How you integrate ICT in your classroom Made by: Haya Jahanzeb

THE ROLE OF ICT IN EDUCATION

ICT ENHANCES THE QUALITY & ACCESSIBILITY OF EDUCATION ICT ENHANCES SCHOLASTIC PERFORMANCE ICT ENHANCES LEARNING MOTIVATION ICT ENHANCES TEACHING & LEARNING PROCESS

ICT SKILLS IN YOUR CLASSROOM? WHAT DOES IT MEANS TO INTEGRATE ICT SKILLS IN YOUR CLASSROOM?

IF TEACHERS CAN ONLY PROVIDE… Research Content Theories Facts Stories Dates Information formulas

THEN IS OUR ROLE IN THE LIVES OF STUDENTS OUTWORN????

STUDENTS CAN FIND INFORMATION….

LIMITLESS INFORMATION BLOGS

TEACHERS ARE NO LONGER THE MAIN SOURCE OF INFORMATION

HOW DO WE TEACH STUDENTS TO HANDLE THESE RESOURCES? SURE, THEY KNOW HOW TO USE A SEARCH ENGINE…. HOW DO WE TEACH STUDENTS TO HANDLE THESE RESOURCES?

BUT HAS ANYONE SHOWN THEM HOW TO: WITH ALL OF THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE, BUT HAS ANYONE SHOWN THEM HOW TO: SHOULD OUR CURRICULUM BE FOCUSED ON VALIDATE INFORMATION? FACTS AND CONTENT SYNTHESIZE INFORMATION? LEVERAGE INFORMATION? OR SKILLS??? COMMUNICATE INFORMATION? COLLABORATE WITH INFORMATION? PROBLEM SOLVE WITH INFORMATION?

THINK OF THE SKILLS USED WHEN YOU ASK: Should I buy or rent? Who should I vote for? Where can I get reliable news?

How would your students answer these questions??? Have you asked them???

FROM WHOM ARE THEY LEARNING THIS??? AND WHAT ABOUT FROM WHOM ARE THEY LEARNING THIS??? RESPONSIBILITY?? RELIABILITY?? INTEGRITY?? FRIENDS?? STRANGERS?? THEMSELVES??

AND WHERE DO WE EXPECT THEM TO LEARN ABOUT CROWDSOURCING PIRATING COPYRIGHT CONFIDENTIALITY PUBLIC SPEAKING PROFESSIONALISM??

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE CLASSROOM???

SO FROM WHERE SHOULD YOU START??? FROM YOU SO FROM WHERE SHOULD YOU START??? IT MEANS WE NEED TO RETHINK THE TOOLS WE USE AND THE TYPES OF PROBLEMS WE ASK STUDENTS TO SOLVE…

See what’s out there 1. Start with small…(what is one thing you could do in the next 2-3 weeks to better engage with 21st century skills???) 2. Take a risk…(change cannot occur without conflict, try it & see what happens)

REMEMBER CHALLENGING RELEVANT ENGAGING Any lesson you create, No matter what tools are used Has to be… Students do not need to be entertained…. CHALLENGING RELEVANT They need to be engaged…. ENGAGING

TEACHING IS MORE THAN IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE, REMEMBER TEACHING IS MORE THAN IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE, LESSON SHOULD BE… active for learning meaningful & applicable give long-term results using the creativity of the participants IT IS INSPIRING CHANGE…. -- William Arthur Ward

THANK YOU!!!
