Purpose of Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Platform for character development Platform for students to discover their interests and talents Provides common space for friendships and social integration amongst students of diverse backgrounds

Learning Outcomes Passion Leadership and teamwork Friendship and belonging Spirit of service to the community Knowledge, skills and values related to chosen CCA Core values, social and emotional competencies and the emerging 21st Century Competencies (CC) as articulated in the 21st CC Framework

Types of CCAs Clubs and Societies (2) Physical Sports (6) Uniformed Groups (5) Visual & Performing Arts (5) * Refer to school website for CCAs offered in 2018 in Junyuan

LEAPS 2.0 5 domains in LEAPS Leadership Enrichment Achievement Participation Service

LEAPS 2.0 4 domains have levels of attainment: Levels 1 - 5 Leadership Achievement Participation Service

LEAPS 2.0 Enrichment Complements the other domains for students’ holistic development. This includes activities such as camps and 1 STAR kayaking course Will be recognized in School Graduation Certificate Will not be allocated levels of attainment

Co-Curricular Attainment Basic Requirement for Level of Attainment in Domains Bonus Points Excellent 4,3,3,3 2 Good 4,1,1,1 3,2,1,1 2,2,2,1 1 Fair Did not meet above criteria

Usage of bonus points At the end of graduating year, the student’s co-curricular attainment will be recognised and translated to bonus point(s) which can be used for admission to Junior College / Polytechnics / Institues of Technical Education (JC/Poly/ITE)

Usage of bonus points It can only be used when the cut-off is met for the course which the applicant is applying for For e.g. Biotechnology has a cut-off of 9 points in 2017. Applicant has to first meet the cut-off of 9 points before a further deduction of 2 points (CCA bonus points) This translate to a higher chance of getting into the course

CCA Form 5 options in CCA option form 1 of the choices stated HAVE to be from Uniform Group (UG) UGs have the capacity to take in more students Other CCAs are more limited due to safety considerations, number of instructors and venues

CCA Fair and CCA Selections/Trials All Sec. 1 students MUST attend CCA Fair CCA Fair allows all students to know what CCAs are available and what each CCA can offer them All students MUST attend the selections/trials of the CCAs that they are interested in. This is especially important for Performing Arts and Sports CCAs

CCA Fair and CCA Selections/Trials During the period of selection/trials, students are strongly encouraged to find out more from the Uniform Groups and Clubs and Societies CCA

Considerations when choosing CCA. Considers child’s strength / interest / experience All 5 options must be filled in All 5 options must be filled with a different CCA as option Do not waste the options Consider choices wisely

CCA Allocation CCA will be allocated according to order of choice subjected to: Availability of CCA Student has cleared selection/trial Student will definitely be allocated one of the five choices No transfer of CCA once CCA allocation is completed

CCA Trainings / Practices All information on CCAs will be uploaded onto the school website on a monthly basis Notification of changes will be made via our phone call/message Consent forms will be issued only for the following reasons Camps Adventure or water-based activities Payment involved (Withdrawal from Edusave)

Important dates to remember 9 & 11 Jan 2018 (3 – 5.30pm) – CCA Fair 16, 18, 23 & 25 Jan 2018 (3 – 4.30pm) – CCA Selections / Trials 29 Jan 2018 – Submission of CCA option form 06 Feb 2018 – Release of CCA Allocation to Sec. 1s 06 Feb 2018 – Start of CCA for Sec. 1 students
