What are SNAM and SNA?  They are non-profit organizations. SNAM’s mission: “Be the primary resource that empowers our members to advance good nutrition and promote healthy lifestyles for Michigan children.”

THE SNA Certificate in school nutrition PROGRAM   The SNA Certificate in School Nutrition program is a certificate of completion program recognized by SNA to individuals who have completed educational requirements which have been established by SNA. It aligns with the USDA standards.

Why Should I earn the sna certificate in school nutrition? Professional Recognition Advanced knowledge Personal Achievement Career Advancement Professional Standards

SNA Certificate in School nutrition program Minimum Requirements SNA Level 1 Work Experience 1 year Specialized Training to become eligible for certification 16 hours approved classes: 8 hr. Sanitation , Servsafe, or Equivalent and 8 hr. Michigan Nutrition I ,Nutrition 101 Certificate Program Renewal- CEU’s SNA’s program aligns with the USDA Professional Standards so requirements for completion renewal will be based on Membership Type. Ex: Staff: 6 CEU’s , Managers: 10 CEU’s, Directors: 12 CEU’s. -Identified into the 4 categories- Nutrition, Operations, Administration, and Communication and Marketing. Certificate Program Period- Time to attain CEU’s and renewal time Tell participants they will need to go to the website and get the book to read more about the new guidelines. www: schoolnutrition Application for Certificate in School Nutrition Program Guide.

Different Certifications SNA Certificate Program is SEPARATE and DIFFERENT from the Food Protection Manager Certification requirement by local health departments.

Renewal Fees Remember!!! There are two renewal fees. One for Membership and one for the SNA Certificate program. They will come at different times and you will need to pay both bills in order to renew them each year. 1 Membership 2 SNA Certificate for School Nutrition Program

Statewide Training Classes Developed in partnership with MDE. Statewide training Brochure are available with class lists.

Rewards and Recognition for Successful Completion Successful course completion is based on: Attendance (75%) Completion of required assignments Minimum score on Post test (70%), except ServSafe (75%).

Participants will be presented with: A successful letter of completion of each course.
