Decision Making Ms. Perez

Bell ringer Think about the last important decision you made. What influenced it? How did you come to one choice or action over the other?

Common decision-making strategies Destiny: Letting outside forces decide-leaving it up to “fate” Spontaneity: Choosing the first option that comes to mind;giving it little or no consideration to the consequences of the choice

Common decision-making strategies Compliance: Going along family, school, or peer expectations Procrastination: Postponing thought and action until options are limited Agonizing: Accumulating so much information that analyzing the options becomes overwhelming

Common decision-making strategies Intention: Choosing an option that will be both intellectually and emotionally satisfying Inspiration: Doing something just because “it feels right” or because “it just seems like the right thing to do.”

Common decision-making strategies Inertia: knowing you need to make a decision, but not going what needs to be done to make the choice Desire: Choosing the option that might achieve the best result, regardless of the risk involved

Common decision making strategies Avoidance:Choosing the option that is most likely to avoid the worst possible result Security: Choosing the option which will bring some success, offend the fewest people, and pose the least risk

Common decision-making strategies Synthesis: Choosing the option that has a good chance to succeed and which you like the best

In your table break up into groups of three. Each group will be given a decision making strategy Create an APPROPRIATE cartoon demonstrating this decision making strategy. You will have 10 minutes to do this, then be prepared to share. I will walk around and inform you of your decision making strategy

My cartoon
