Executive Summary (excerpt) Golden Solutions’ Advenio! mobile application is a global positioning system and directional utility interface that allows users to locate a specific room and/or office within a designated building, especially one that exhibits a complex and confusing layout. Clients would be able to manipulate the application on an Internet-capable device. Using the student’s current location, the device would guide the student to their selected destination via written directions, an aerial view, or a 360˚ view. The usefulness of the application would also extend to allow for speedy and sure travel to nearby facilities that one would require in times of an imminent emergency, such as bathrooms, vending machines and emergency tools, such as fire extinguishers or call- boxes.

Functional Requirements Current Location The system will find a user’s coordinates and display a their location on a map using GPS technology. Building Destination   The system will enable the user to search for, view, and verify their desired building destination. Room Destination within a Building Route(s) The system will display alternate routes of the user’s destination. The system will allow the user to choose, preview, and display their route preference in a step-by-step format. Past Destinations The system will allow the user to view and choose past destination routes they have located.

Non-Functional Requirements Operational The system should run on mobile and other hand held devices. The system should be able to connect to Wi-Fi or 3G servers. The system should include a database that houses GPS, coordinate recognition, and map layouts. Performance The system should react to the users in a minimum of 4 seconds. The system should be updated by a verification inquiry completed by the user upon arrival at their destination. The system should be accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The system should have unlimited virtual hosting abilities.  Security The system’s updated via verification inquiry must be validated through approval of authorized administration. The system should be secured from viruses, Trojans, and other harmful computer- generated infections. Cultural and Political The system should only recognize public buildings. The system should have the diversity of a language setting. The system should respect the privacy of the user regarding their destination selection.

User Interfaces

1. Locate Initial Position Description: When the user first pulls up the program the “Find Current Location” button, the campus map displayed, and the Title are displayed. Once the user hits “Find Current Location” the “Select Destination” button and “Select Destination” textbar are displayed and then are available for the user to select a building.

2. Search Building Destination Description: Once the user selects the building the system will highlight the building on the map.

3. Search Room Destination Description: The system will now automatically display a textbox containing a textbar called “Enter Room #” and a button labeled “Go”. Also at the bottom of the screen the system will display a button labeled “Skip”.

4. Maintain Location with Coordinates (Part 1) Description: If the user selects “Skip” then the system will go back to displaying the campus map with the selected building highlighted. If the user selects “Go” then the system will display a route from your current location to the room on the campus map. The system will also display a button at the bottom of the screen called “Step-By-Step Directions”, if selected the system will display a series of directions guiding the user to his/her destination.

5. Maintain Location with Coordinates (Part 2) Description: Once the GPS determine that you have reached your destination a text box will be displayed asking you “Have your arrived at your Destination?” and user will select from two buttons, one labeled “Yes” and the other labeled “No”.

Target Audience Students Whether the student aims to strategically plan their journey ahead, or whether they lacked the foresight needed to account for confusing building layouts, it is essential that these users have the resources to fulfill their needs and accomplish their plans.

How they do it today…

Research RESULTS OF RESEARCH Proposal Survey Summary This survey was conducted by Brooks Cowan, a member of Golden Solutions, with the intent of determining the potential popularity and usage of this application. This survey was conducted over the phone and in person. Each participant was given a pitch of our group’s product proposal, and was then told to answer the following questions with either a “yes” or “no.” Those surveyed were either currents students or recent graduates of Louisiana State University. Proposal A mobile phone application that allows users to navigate buildings by giving directions, showing aerial maps, or displaying a 360° view of the building’s interior. The application would be initially based on the layout and buildings of LSU and then possibly expanded to other universities and cities. Survey Summary This survey proved very beneficial in determining the potential amount of users, initial price of the product, as well as the possibility of expansion among users and other buildings (other than LSU’s campus.) This survey showed that the vast majority of those surveyed responded positively to the app and its functionality
