English 1 Of Mice & Men Final How to Plan and execute your OMM Poster and Presentation

Objective To demonstrate mastery of the novel’s: Themes Development of characters

How to approach the project Analyze the different Themes of the novel: The use of Light & dark Prejudice/Discrimination The American Dream The poster is there to enhance your oral presentation Supports what you are saying with interesting and relevant visuals Draws and generates interest

So, what do you do ??? Don’t Do Torture us by reading quotes Explain the meaning or significance of the quote by referencing moments in the story Bore us by reading from the poster Glance at your note cards and practice what you are going to say so that your presentation of ideas is smooth and easy to follow Offend us by “explaining” your poster We know how to look at a poster. We are more interested in hearing your unique interpretations and having a interesting poster to look at while you explain your ideas.

How you will be graded: Total = 120 points Poster = 70 points Presentation = 50 points Total = 120 points Each section will receive either a 10, 7, or 1 10 = clearly meets standard 7 = makes a serious effort and is fairly successful 1 = a small effort is made, but does not achieve standard

Poster Scoring Criteria Colorful and aesthetically pleasing Generates interests Images touch on key points of the story Images are relevant to the piece of evidence Evidence is responsive to prompt Reflects the mood of the story Neat, organized, easy to follow, enhances presentation

Presentation Scoring Criteria Eye contact with audience Appropriate volume Explains how evidence is connected to/responsive to prompt Displays confidence and mastery of concepts Thought provoking
