Introduction to Book Groups DO NOW Introduction to Book Groups As you meet in groups for the first time, remember that we’d like to finish reading the dystopia books by next Friday, November 21. With that in mind, map out a reading schedule for in class and at home that will keep you all at pretty much the same pace and get you to the end of your books on schedule.

If   In-Class Reading As you read your dystopian novel, think about ways in which the author of your book is using the tools that we have talked about in this unit and in All Quiet. These include: the nature of the narrator the use of minor characters mood and tone setting dystopian fiction as an allegory to discuss today’s world

If   Homework Continue reading your book, following the schedule you created with your book club today as closely as possible Instead of a T-chart, choose something that your author did with language and description that caught your attention and write a paragraph about it in your reader’s notebook. As always, be sure that you have a date at the top, as well as the work you’re reading and the pages you’ve covered for that entry.
