Guidelines for CAT Presentations

No more than 5-6 bullets per slide Font size 32 or greater Keep formatting standard Don’t need full sentences Use notes box for personal reminders You want people to be listening to you, NOT reading your slides, too many words makes it difficult to follow the presentation. Use this “notes box” to help you remember details you want to include during your talk that don’t warrant a highlighted spot on the slide

What made you come up with it? Background What is your question? What made you come up with it? Rounds Clinic Deep thoughts What is the educational significance of your question? 2-3 slides for this, no more!

Your Search Resources used How many studies did you include? What were your criteria?

Description of study: 1 slide Validity: 2 slides Article Appraisal Description of study: 1 slide Validity: 2 slides What were the results: 1-2 slides, can include tables from the article Applicability: 1 slide Your bottom line: 1 slide Total: No more than 8 slides per article This may not seem like a lot of slides, but remember that you are going to use this text box for additional information you’d like to discuss…you don’t need a slide for everything. Think about the CATs you’ve attended that have been boring…4-5 articles are a lot to get through, make it interesting and engaging for your attendees.

Grand Finale Study Validity Results Applicability/Bottom Line

Conclusion What is your overall conclusion? Did this exercise change your practice at all? (Brief) recommendations for future directions (More studies? Not worth studying after all?) Questions from audience
