Balance You got it or you don’t

There are 2 kinds. Symmetrical Both sides of the work are a mirror image. Asymmetrical Art work is equalized and there is the same visual weight.

Your Assignment Create an image that clearly shows Symmetrical or Asymmetrical balance. Using shapes, cut both organic and geometric forms from colored paper. Cut nothing recognizable. Place on a 9x12 drawing paper, arrange to clearly show Symmetrical or Asymmetrical balance, glue in place. Then use markers to add interest. Patterns and design in the negative and positive spaces. Too much variation leads to confusion. Too little leads to boredom. Important hints Overlap the solid shapes. Back ground last. 3-4 class periods.
