Fig 1 (A) Relevant capsule and ligamentous anatomy of glenohumeral joint. (B) An elevator is used to carefully develop the plane between the subscapularis tendon anteriorly and the capsuloligamentous complex posteriorly. (C) A tissue penetrator is used to pass suture through the anterior band of the inferior glenohumeral ligament (AIGHL) as well as the SGHL. (D) The sutures are then tied blindly outside the capsule to shift the AIGHL superiorly, thereby decreasing the glenohumeral capsular volume.
