ISRI Vehicle Safety Award Program Purpose: To recognize and reward ISRI members for outstanding commitment to the safety of their employees and the general public as evidenced by progressive and effective fleet safety programs.
ISRI Vehicle Safety Award Program Fleet Classes: Small Class: 300,000 to 500,000 miles per year Intermediate Class: 500,001 to 1,000,000 miles per year Medium Class: 1,000,001 to 5,000,000 miles per year Large Class: Greater than 5,000,000 miles per year

ISRI Vehicle Safety Award Program In the event of a tie finalists will be audited for their program effectiveness and contributions in three areas: Driver Training Program Vehicle Accident Prevention Program Vehicle Maintenance Program
ISRI Vehicle Safety Award Program Categories Best-In Class Fleet Award (1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Awards in 4 classes) ISRI member with the lowest vehicle accident rate over a 12-month period (2017 data) Pacesetter Award (1st place only in 4 classes) ISRI member with the lowest vehicle accident rate for 36 months beginning Jan. 1, 2015 and the lowest vehicle severity accident rate for the same 36-month period
ISRI Vehicle Safety Award
ISRI Driver of the Year Award Program Purpose: The ISRI Safe Driver of the Year Award recognizes outstanding drivers who have driven a commercial motor vehicle for at least 20 years without incurring a preventable accident. Any ISRI member may nominate drivers who they feel exemplify outstanding safe driving. Winners are judged based upon their driving record throughout their career.
ISRI Driver of the Year Award Program Driver Nominee Criteria: This contest applies only to ISRI member employees in good standing, (MVR and PSP) 20 years of verifiable employment as a commercial motor vehicle driver, without a preventable accident All data is subject to verification
ISRI Driver of the Year Award Program Driver Nominee Criteria Continued: Nominees must be full-time employees whose primary responsibility is to operate commercial motor vehicle Nominees must have been employed by the nominating member company for at least 1 year
ISRI Driver of the Year Award Program Driver Nominee Criteria Continued: Nominations must be made by someone familiar with the nominee’s work history, e.g., a manager, safety director, etc. No more than 3 drivers may be nominated from the same company Previous first place recipients will not be considered for consecutive or future awards (One time only recognition for former first place recipients).
ISRI Driver of the Year Award Program Other Non-Mandatory Contributors: Contributions to highway safety (driver trainer, state / national road team) Letters of appreciation (company, customer, motoring public, etc.) Deeds of heroism on or off the job (emergency responder, good Samaritan) Civic and fraternal organizations, (Boys & Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Manson’s, Shriners, etc.)

ISRI Golden Wrench Award Purpose: The ISRI Golden Wrench Award recognizes the best heavy vehicle maintenance technicians or managers in the scrap recycling industry who exhibit outstanding efforts, achievements, and contributions to ensure that commercial motor vehicles (CMV’s) are safe on the road.
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Mandatory Criteria: Nominees must be full-time employees (employed by the member company for a minimum of one year) whose primary responsibility is to maintain (CMV’s). No more than five nominees may be nominated from the same member company.
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Mandatory Criteria Continued: Nominations must be made by someone familiar with the nominee’s work history, such as a supervisor, safety director, and so on. Nominees must meet the minimum requirement of five years of verifiable employment as a (CMV) maintenance technician.
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Mandatory Criteria Continued: Nominees must have a minimum of 40 hours qualified medium/heavy and or auto/light truck maintenance training (within the last three years) e.g., by a technical college, automotive technician training program, etc. Previous first place recipients will not be considered for consecutive or future awards (One time only recognition for former first place recipients).
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Mandatory Criteria Continued: Member company CSA vehicle maintenance performance score cannot exceed the CSA Threshold of 80%. No member company record of CSA intervention letters/alert notices within the past 24 months (with the CSA Vehicle Maintenance BASIC Only).
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Other Non-Mandatory Contributors: A current State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) heavy vehicle inspector’s license. Contributions to improving company vehicle maintenance. National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium/heavy truck and or auto/light truck test completion and current certification (within the last five years).
ISRI Golden Wrench Award Other Non-Mandatory Contributors Continued: Previous work-related awards or letters of recognition. Member of a civic and fraternal organization e.g., (Masons, Shriners, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club, etc.). A current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL: A, B, or C Class).
