What is Confucianism?

Confucianism Based on the teachings of Confucius, a Chinese philosopher. Born in 551 B.C. died in 479 B.C. Confucius was an exceptional student who later became a teacher and a government official.

Confucianism NOT A RELIGION Concerned primarily with restoring social stability and order Focus is on Peace & Harmony Confucianism is a system of social and ethical philosophy… NOT A RELIGION

The Analects of Confucius The single most important Confucian book is called The Analects. In Chinese, it means “conversation.” Confucianism believes in Ren & Li. Ren=Concern for Others Li=Right Behavior

**Confucianism is still practiced today in China**
