Activating The Promises Of God Judges 7:8-15

1. The Promises Of God Are Not Self-Fulfilling

Judges 7:8-9 …Now the Midianite camp was in the valley just below Gideon. That same night the LORD said to him, Get up and go down against the camp, for I have given them into your hand.

Judges 7:12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the people of the East lay along the valley like a swarm of locusts, and their camels were like grains of sand on the seashore, too many to count.

But if you are afraid to attack.... Judges 7:10 But if you are afraid to attack....

2. The Promises Of God Must Be Visualized As Being Specifically For Me

Judges 7:10-11 But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with Purah your servant. Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly strengthened to go down against the camp. So, Gideon took Purah and went down to the outposts of the enemy camp.

Judges 7:13 When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his friend. He said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.

Judges 7:14-15 And his friend answered, This is none other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given Midian into his hand and all of the camp. As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshipped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, Arise, for the LORD has given the host army of Midian into your hand.

Numbers 13:23-27 When they came…they cut off a branch with only one bunch of grapes on it. They carried it on a pole between two of them. They also brought some pomegranates and figs…They came back to Moses…and they gave their report and showed them the fruit from the land. This is what they reported to Moses, We went to the land where you sent us. It really is a land flowing with milk and honey. Here’s some of its fruit.

Numbers 13:28 But the people who live there are strong, and the cities have walls and are very large. We even saw the descendants of the giants there.

Philippians 4:8 …Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
