The Road Safety DISTRACTIONS How well can you MULTITASK??? Obstacle Course Laast nigh@t I went2 #% Draaaaama club and after that me,.?’ Tina and AAAshanti went222 Nando+}~s. We had chch chicken wings, Potato wedges and ?&%+b How well can you MULTITASK???

How to organise it Suggested set up Score sheet

Keeping score Each participant is timed as they complete the obstacle course. Once without using a phone and once using a phone to write a text message. PENALTIES: Incurred for hitting obstacles AND for mistakes in the text message. For each penalty ADD five seconds to the time! Penalties represent a danger, for example: cars, cyclists, lamp posts, holes in the pavement or other pedestrians! The greater the number of penalties the more severe the potential consequences! BONUS POINTS: For each ball thrown into the bucket SUBTRACT two seconds from the time. The winner is the student with LOWEST score!

Observations and discussions Did writing the text message affect your ability to complete the obstacle course? How? What was difficult about the task? Do you use your phone in the street? Do you use your phone when crossing the road? How much does using a mobile phone affect our awareness of our surroundings? What will you do differently after today?
