Confirmation Notifications Confirmation letters will be sent following Spring Break Letters will include: The name of the university the student is attending What to pack/what to leave at home Emergency contact list Bus route with times for pick-up and drop-off University staff person will be with the bus to greet the student Students with missing information or unsigned forms will receive a notification letting them know to work with their school to get the forms completed or they will be unable to attend. DARE TO DREAM 2016 Review registration status of students. Keep in touch with students in case they no longer can attend and a replacement is needed. Use your waitlist for possible replacements. Review the confirmation letter with the student to make sure they know the pick-up time and location for their university. Ensure the student has a plan to get to pick-up site. iGrants Form Packages and Due Dates FP 206 – Regular Year grant application Due – July 1, 2016 for Substantially Approvable Status Applications received after July 1 will be effective the date of submission – cannot be back-dated to July 1. FP 521 – Regular Year end-of-report for school year 2015-16 Due Friday, August 19, 2016 FP 249 – Summer end-of-year report for Summer 2016 Due Friday, September 16, 2016 (NOTE: pre and post academic assessment conducted as part of your summer program should be submitted to the Migrant Student Information System by the end of the summer program). MSIS Updates: CEDARS Program Services Data: MSIS recently uploaded new data for Special Education, LAP, Title I and State Bilingual – check with local CEDARS contact if discrepancies. CPR 2015-16: Item 3.6, districts may use MSIS End-of-Year Data Summary Report or the District Dashboard to demonstrate the attendance rates of migrant students in their district. Summer Assessment Reporting (drop down menu) Report the pre and post assessment results. Include total points possible in the assessment. Fidelity of Strategy Implementation (FSI) Tool Washington Migrant Education Program Fidelity of Strategy Implementation (FSI) Tool Overview, Scoring, and Reporting
Purposes To inform the implementation evaluation of the Washington MEP as required by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education. To measure the level of implementation of each Strategy to determine the extent to which MEP services are delivered with fidelity. To serve as a self-assessment guide to local MEPs in implementing migrant-funded services in the 4 Goal Areas of: 1) Reading, 2) Mathematics, 3) Graduation, and 4) Migrant English Language Learners.
Washington MEP Strategies READING: 1-1 Provide reading support in summer programs focused in the areas of comprehension and academic vocabulary development MATH: 2-1 Provide math support in summer programs to strengthen mathematics vocabulary, problem solving, algebraic sense, and procedural concepts.
Washington MEP Strategies GRADUATION: 3-1 Provide opportunities during the summer for migrant students to participate in credit retrieval programs (e.g., Dare to Dream, summer programs providing credit recovery). MIGRANT ELLs: 4-1 Migrant programs collaborate with the State Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program (TBIP), Title III (extended day, summer, or intersession programming), or other applicable resources to ensure that migrant ELLs are receiving language development services.
Directions for Completing the FSI Convene a group of key MEP staff, discuss each Strategy, and come to consensus on each of the ratings. Place a checkmark in the box that best reflects your project’s level of implementation of each of the Strategies in the 4 Goal Areas. If a particular Strategy is not applicable to your project, write “Not Applicable” in the Evidence box.
FSI Ratings 2 = Aware 3 = Developing Ratings are based on a 5-point rubric: 1 = Not Evident 2 = Aware 3 = Developing 4 = Succeeding (considered “proficient”) 5 = Exceeding
Directions for Completing the FSI, Cont. Document examples of evidence used to determine each Strategy’s rating. Potential evidence examples are provided. Highlight in yellow evidence examples provided that are relevant to your project and add any additional examples in the box below. Indicate comments or follow-up needed for each of the Strategies.
