Open Airways For Schools® Online Facilitator Training 5 Learning Modules Asthma Basics A stand-alone module that teaches the basics of asthma management, including how to handle asthma episodes and breathing emergencies. BECOME AN OPEN AIRWAYS FOR SCHOOLS® CERTIFIED FACILITATOR The American Lung Association has made it easier to become an OAS Certified Facililtator by bringing the one-day, in-person training workshop into an online format. INTERACTIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE The online training ensures a high quality and consitent learning experience. The modules are a mixture of engaging activities, videos, scenario based quizzes and professionally narrated text to meet the needs of adult learners. The training includes What is Asthma? – An animation that shows what happens in the airways during an asthma episode. NEW FACILITATOR RESOURCES OAS facilitators can access our suite of resources to find everything needed to implement an OAS program. Return to the modules often to brush up on facilitation skills and find up-to-date asthma information. Click the icons throughout the modules to: Watch a video – Learn the correct way to use rescue and long-term control asthma inhalers, a spacer and peak flow meter. Watch an OAS session and learn how to set-up an OAS classroom. Download a document – Each video has printable instructions for your use that can be provided to parents of the OAS students to reinforce messaging.
