We use adjectives to talk about a person’s personality and appearance. There are many adjectives in English Some adjectives have positive meanings. (intelligent, honest, dependable) Some adjectives have negative meanings. (unreliable, forgetful, greedy) Some adjectives have neutral meanings. (nice, kind, friendly)

Positive, negative or neutral?

Sentence structure To use adjectives to describe a person’s personality use Noun + to be verb + adjective Example: My sister is friendly. You can also use adverbs to emphasize the adjective. My sister is very friendly. My sister is really friendly

Negative sentence structure Negative sentences are made using the following structure. Noun + to be verb + not + adjective. Example: My sister is not friendly. (My sister isn’t friendly.) If you use an adverb, make sure the adverb is before the adjective and after the not. Example: My sister is not very friendly. (My sister isn’t very friendly.)

Write the positive adjectives in one column and the negative adjectives other. jealous modest truthful sociable serious polite assertive creative grumpy greedy dishonest quiet bossy easygoing open minded mean generous smart selfish dependable critical talkative lazy moody big-headed impatient
