Summerslade Reservoir 40,000 tonnes of material recycled on site Savings of over £500,000 on transport, landfill and raw material costs The Summerslade Down scheme is one of six storage tanks being constructed through Wiltshire and Dorset as part of The Grid pipeline scheme. The new storage tank will have a capacity of 8 million litres. In order to help the tank with the surroundings and help minimise its visual impact, it was required to import 40,000 tonnes of bulk fill. Ordinarily this would be achieved with quarried aggregates, but by partnering with a local construction company and importing material with neighbouring Grid schemes, it was possible to achieve this with waste material.
