Cambridge AICE Program- Eligibility for Fletcher High School Priority is given to students who are zoned for the geographical zones for the east quadrant for DCPS: Fletcher Terry Parker Sandalwood Atlantic Coast The Fletcher Cambridge AICE Program is not a magnet program. It is an accelerated program under the High School Accelerated Program & School Choice Office Based on school utilization space & cut-off score on the admissions rubric.

Cambridge AICE Program The Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma is an international curriculum and examination system that emphasizes the value of broad and balanced study. The Cambridge AICE Diploma was first awarded in 1997 and has since become popular with a range of schools all over the world. It encompasses the ‘gold standard’ Cambridge International AS and A Level qualifications, and offers students the opportunity to tailor their studies to their individual interests, abilities and future plans within an international curriculum framework. Comparable to International Baccalaureate (IB) Students can earn college course credit for successful completion/pass of AICE courses/examinations (credit by examination).

Cambridge AICE Curriculum Committed to a flexible curriculum- student-centered Balanced preparation for college & university Honors Degree program Cohorts – AICE and Pre-AICE classes with other Cambridge AICE students For educational breadth and balance, students must earn one AICE exam credit from each of the following three groups of study, as well as passing Global Perspectives (mandatory): Group A: Mathematics and Sciences Group B: Languages Group C: Arts and Humanities And Global Perspectives (core) Students then must earn a minimum of three additional AICE exam credits from all choices available.

AICE at Fletcher - 15 dedicated AICE courses 1. High Academics - 15 dedicated AICE courses - 19 Advanced Placement courses - 18 Dual Enrollment Courses 2. Athletic Programs 3. Activities for students (Clubs, etc.) 4. Arts (Performing & Visual)

AICE at Fletcher First cohort began in the fall of 2010– this year, we will graduate our fifth class of AICE students. Allotted 75 seats per grade level– we currently have 265 AICE students enrolled in grades 9-12. In the June 2017 Exam Series: 200 students took a total of 641AICE exams (3.2 exams per student) Of these exams, 532 earned passing scores. 82% pass rate across all AICE examinations at Fletcher. 94% of AICE seniors graduating in 2016 earned their AICE diploma. Of these diploma recipients, 64% earned top-level Cambridge honors– AICE with Merit or AICE with Distinction.

Cambridge AICE Program Admission Requirements Student must have: Successful completion of Algebra I (EOC) or higher Passing scores on both Reading & Math sections of the 7th grade FSA Report card grades for 7th and start of 8th grade Favorable attendance and conduct records Submission of hand-written essay

Cambridge AICE Program Admission Requirements Single AICE application for Fletcher, Mandarin, Raines, and Westside All Cambridge AICE Programs will use the following criteria for admission: 28 Points– 8th Grade Core Academic Grades (English, Math, Social Studies, and Science) 30 Points– 7th Grade FSA/NRT scores in Reading and Math 32 Points– 7th Grade Core Academic Grades (English, Math, Social Studies, and Science) 10 Points– Personal Statement (response to chosen prompt)

Important Dates Friday, January 26, 2018 Week of February 9, 2018 Completed application form due to the Office of High School Acceleration by 4:30 PM Week of February 9, 2018 Acceptance/non-acceptance letter mailed home to all applicants Friday, February 23, 2018 Return decisions must be received by this date for your program of choice
