Plot Line Exposition- There’s not enough food at Gray House for the mice. Rising Action- Lungwort and Poppy talked to Mr. Ocax about moving to New House. Climax- Poppy finds out the real reason why Mr. Ocax wont let the mice move. Falling Action- Ereth the porcupine made a deal with Poppy that was if Ereth took Poppy to New House then Poppy had to get the salt lick for him. Resolution- Mr. Ocax died so the mice can move to New House and Ereth can have salt.

Characters Poppy is a brave, smart, female deer mouse, and very confident. Mr. Ocax is a owl who pretends to protect mice, but really just wants to eat them, he is also very rude and mean. Ereth is a porcupine, vegetarian, old, a grunt, has an attitude, and very bad at names. Lungwort is a deer mouse, Poppy’s father, Sweet Cicely’s husband, and frightened of Mr. Ocax. Ragweed was a golden mouse, Poppy’s boyfriend, and asks a lot of questions, he died because Mr. Ocax ate him George is a tomcat, not dangerous, old, lazy orange, stray, sleepy, and grumpy. Sweet Cicely is a small, female deer mouse, mother of Poppy, and wife of Lungwort.

Theme “Stand up for yourself” Poppy did that by showing that even the smallest animals like mice can defeat bigger animals like owls.

Conflicts and Resolutions 1. Mr. Ocax broke the farmer’s salt lick he put out for the deer. 1. Ereth gets the salt Poppy promised him after Ereth helped Poppy get to New House 2. Ragweed’s earring that Poppy had on her ear saved her because it fluttered on her ear. 2. Mr. Ocax was right behind Poppy and about to eat her. 3. Mr. Ocax said “no” to Poppy and Lungwort for permission to move. 3. Poppy goes to New House to find out the real reason why Mr. Ocax said “no.”

Personal Reflection I liked this book because Poppy was a small mouse, but could do more than what she thought she could do. She was brave and in the book she fought against Mr. Ocax to get a new place to live with her family.

THE END!!!!
