Star Students 2/26-3/2 Literacy Calendar Birthdays No Birthdays this Our book of the week is “Sleeping Out” and the sight word is “that”. Please have your child practice reading and writing their sight words at home. We will continue our journey through the Solar System. Last week we visited Mercury, Venus and Mars. This week will visit: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and return home to Earth. The kids are having a great time on this journey. They have shared so many facts that they already know and learned some new ones too. In Reading Workshop, students will learn more word families and how to use these “chunks” better in reading. Students will practice looking for these words with their Reading Buddy. In Writing Workshop, students will write about sleeping outside. We will discuss what we would need for a campout, what we would do there, who we would have with us and things we would see and smell. The expectation is that students can write 3 or more sentences about a topic. For example, “a number between 11 and 15” or “a number greater than 16”. Students will have a number track to use for support and have been playing a game on the iPad where they have to put numbers pieces in order on a number track.
