Introduction What’s that I hear in the jungle? It’s the biggest living land animal in the world today. An elephant’s loud, roaring call can be heard from far across the jungle.

What Do Elephants Look Like? There are two types of elephants, the Asian elephant and the African elephant. Both female and male African elephants have tusks but only the male Asian elephants have tusks. They use their tusks for digging and finding food. Asian Elephant African Elephant Elephants can be up to 8 to 10 feet tall. They weigh about 6 tons. Their skin is gray and wrinkled.

What Do Elephants Eat? Elephants are herbivores and can spend up to 16 hours a day collecting leaves, twigs, bamboo and roots. Fruit Roots Grasses Bark Shrubs Leaves An elephant can use its tusks to dig for ground water. An adult elephant needs to drink around 55 gallons of water a day.

Where Do Elephants Live? African and Asian elephants can be found in grasslands, marshes, forests, deserts, and mountains. Herds wander in search of food and water. They may travel 3,000 to 6,000 miles in one year.

Do Elephants Have Predators? Elephants are probably the largest living mammals on earth. They don't have any natural predators that can attack a full grown elephant. However, lions and packs of hyenas have been known to attack an injured or extremely old elephant or an elephant calf that has strayed away from its herd. Humans are the biggest enemies to elephants. Armed with guns hunters and poachers are the biggest threat to elephant numbers.

Interesting Facts About Elephants African elephant ears are shaped like the map of Africa. Elephants used to be a way of transportation in Asia. Elephants prefer one tusk over the other, just as people are either left or right-handed Elephants can get sunburned, so they throw sand on their backs and on their head to keep from getting sunburned.

Conclusion I hope you enjoyed this informative report all about elephants. I chose elephants Because they are the biggest land animal and there is a jumbo amount of interesting facts.
