Presentation transcript:

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month NCSAM is a time to learn how to stay safe and be secure online. Collaborative effort led by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) at staysafeonline.org NCSAM has grown exponentially, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions, and young people across the nation - and world. Join LastPass in making NCSAM 2016 a success!

How can you improve your online security this month? Keep your software up-to-date Automate software updates where possible Make passwords long and strong Secure passwords with a password manager Add two-factor authentication Connect with HTTPS Back it up

This October, eliminate the threat of password reuse. Passwords are the first line of defense in protecting your personal information. Treat passwords like the keys to your house or car. Password reuse puts your identity and personal information at risk. Think “unique”: Unique account, unique password. Audit passwords with the LastPass Security Challenge. Replace old, weak, duplicate, or leaked passwords with new, generated passwords. Create and store passwords with a secure password manager.

How to use LastPass to improve your security this NCSAM. Use the password generator to create unique passwords for every account. Add another layer of security by turning on two-factor authentication for LastPass and other supported services. Remove passwords stored in your browser(s) and save them to LastPass, where they’re encrypted. Set up Emergency Access in your LastPass vault so loved ones have access to important accounts, should something unexpected happen. Only share passwords through LastPass, where you can keep track of who has access to what, update shared passwords easily, and instantly remove their access if needed.
