Presentation transcript:

Warm Up Friday, February 17th Go to the Google Classroom. Find the announcement called “Warm Up, 2/17.” Access 1. the grading scale and 2. the four sample body paragraphs within the assignment. With someone sitting near you, grade each of the sample body paragraphs using the rubric (pick the most appropriate score. THEN, validate your choices by connecting the explanation on the scale its example paragraph by highlighting how each point of the score’s rationale is exhibited in the paragraph.

Learning Targets: To apply a grading scale for substantiating a claim to sample body paragraphs. To use the same grading scale to assess pieces of our own past writing efforts. To develop personalized growth goals in the area of quote analysis/substantiation for future writing assignments.

Assignment – Self Assessment of Quote/Evidence Analysis Find and review your work for your midterm. Read over the document thoroughly, and take from it what you need to complete today’s work. Set TWO to THREE goals for yourself to grow in the areas of Organization, voice, and substantiation of evidence (particularly relating to how you will analyze a quote or evidence in your senior research essay) **We will come back to these same goals during our individual writing conferences in February. You have until the end of the period, so be thorough.

Homework Homework #1.
