Presentation transcript:

Behavior Plan Our class, as well as the school, will continue to use Class Dojo; the interactive system to monitor behavior. Please read below to find out what Class Dojo is and how it will be used in your child’s 3rd grade classroom this year. How will Class Dojo be used in my child’s classroom? Prior to the first day of school, each student will be assigned a Dojo avatar. Parents will receive a login code at open house, which will allow them to register for their own Dojo account. We highly encourage parents to connect as soon as possible. Please let us know if you need assistance. There is even an APP for phones. PARENTS MUST REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO SEE STUDENT BEHAVIORS & RECEIVE WEEKLY EMAIL BEHAVIOR REPORTS.   Throughout the school day, students will receive positive and negative Dojo points based on their behaviors. Positive behavior will be rewarded based on a points scale. Students will earn Bulldog Bucks for positive Dojo points, as well as their Dojo Acknowledgement celebrations based on the number of points earned. Positive Behavior Rewards: Students will earn Dojo Acknowledgement celebrations throughout the year put on by the school for our PBIS initiative based on the number of positive points earned. Students must earn 50(+) positives to attend these celebrations. Points will be reset after each acknowledgement party. Negative Behavior: When students display behaviors that need improvement, they will receive a negative Dojo point. Negative points will result in a variety of consequences. Students WILL NOT lose Bulldog Bucks for negative behaviors. If a student receives more than 14 negatives between acknowledgment celebrations, or receives an office referral, they will not be eligible to attend the celebration. Parents will be notified the day before celebrations are set to take place, making you aware of whether they can attend or not. Negative Behavior Consequences: Should a student receive 1 or more negative Dojo’s throughout the school day, the following consequences will take place: 1 Negative Point: Walk 3 laps at recess 3 Negative Points: Parent phone call 2 Negative Points: Lose all recess/ or silent lunch 4+ Negative Points: Office Referral Any time a child demonstrates a significant negative behavior, the parent will be notified. We reserve the right to skip any of these steps and take immediate office referral action at any point, based on the severity of the behavior. How do I know how my child is doing? The great part about Class Dojo is the fact that it provides parents with current and specific information regarding their child’s behavior at school. Parents receive a login code which allows them to access their child’s Dojo account anytime and view a report outlining exactly why their child is receiving positive and negative points. After parents have registered for a Dojo account, Class Dojo will send them an email every Friday, detailing their child’s weekly behavior. We will also note student’s progress towards their DOJO goals on their weekly behavior sheet that comes home on Mondays in the student’s red folders.
