The Big 6 Reading Strategies Making connections Visualizing Inferring Synthesizing Questioning Determining Importance

Making Connections Like forming a bridge from the new to the known. When we make connections, we use our personal experience to enhance understanding. Schema: refers to the amount of knowledge we bring to a book. We make 3 kinds of connections when we read: Text to self (T-S): relating reading to our own lives. Text to Text (T-T): Connections made between different Text to World (T-W): Connections made between the text and bigger world issues.
