Genesis 3 Read Genesis 3 To Love God One Tree Enter the Serpent The Temptation
Read Genesis 3
To Love God Deut. 6:4-6; Matthew 22:36-38 The function of Man is to love God BUT, loving a superior is not the same as loving an equal But because Man has a true personality this love is not mechanical, but occurs by the wonder of choice.
One Tree Note that the test does not involve a good tree vs. a bad tree God simply confronts Man with a choice (Man has free will) Knowledge (as knowledge) was not wrong; it was the choice to disobey God that was wrong Man was not deterministically conditioned; It was a simple test and everything involved was absolutely plain.
Enter the Serpent Certainly we want to know more about the serpent The Bible gives more later The Theology of the Fall Satan directly used the animal The serpent appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh
The Temptation Genesis 3:1-4 Note the direct contradiction issued by Satan Eve’s response Eve’s new knowledge
