WP1 Preparation for the HR research management reform Leader: University of Nis 1.1 Research potential at WBC universities mapped: Questionnaire is designed and distributed to all partners. It’s been filled out by all the partners. Done 1.2 Review of HR strategies at EU partners: We have organized 3 meetings at our EU partner Universities with the goal to gain insight into the current HR management strategies at EU universities. EU experts have presented their experiences with the process of enhancement of the HE research potential and given useful advice. WP2 Excellent university for the researchers Leader: University of Novi Sad Act.2.2. Training of WBC administrative staff related to research services Task leader: University of Novi Sad On September 23-24, 2016, University of Novi Sad organized a training for administrative staff of the WB partner Universities related to research services.   Trainers were from the University of Liege, Coventry University and University of Politecnico di Torino. The atmosphere during the training was very satisfactory and 36 participants from all the Western Balkan University partners (Universities of Nis, Kragujevac, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Montenegro, Vlora, Tirana, East Sarajevo and Sarajevo) participated in this training. Seminar on HRS4R strategy for the university management A one day meeting for the representatives of the University management in Belgrade, 08.06.2016 Representatives of the management boards were educated by EU experts on the implementation of the Charter and Code through the “HR Excellence in Research” Task leader: University of Novi Sad A one day meeting for the representatives of the University management was organized in Belgrade, on 08.06.2016. The total number of participants was 17, among whom were the Rectors of UNI and UB, Vice rectors from UNS, UB, UNIKG, UNSA and the vice minister for sciences of Serbia. It was pointed out that the support of university managements to this important project is quintessential. FINISHED

How to solve this problem in Albania? WP2 Excellent university for the researchers Leader: University of Novi Sad Act.2.7 Plagiarism monitoring tools implemented All partners Universities except University of Vlora and University of Tirana purchased a plagiarism monitoring tool in 2017 and organized several trainings for the librarians, IT specialists and administrative staff who are supposed to use the authenticate software at their faculties. It is necessary to adopt some regulations for the use of this software at each universities. How to solve this problem in Albania?

Enhancing of ethical committees through legislative improvements and trainings Task leader: University of Vlora and University of Kragujevac The training for EC members was organised at the University of Kragujevac on 10-11, November, 2016 with the help of trainers from Coventry University and University of Liege. The total number of participants was 19, whereas according to the plan 36 members of EC ought to have been trained. FINISHED CONCRETE ACTIONS HAVE TO BE DONE BY EACH OF THE WBC UNIVERSITIES Relevant bylaws with the purpose of rendering more efficient work of the EC 01.02.2017

WP3 Excellent researchers for the community Leader: University of Kragujevac 3.4 Young researchers trained in various skills Through a two-day seminars organized in Vlora, Tirana, Kragujevac and East Sarajevo a total number of 271 researchers were trained on different topiics by experiend trainers from Liege, Coventry and Torino. Here we went beyond what was planned since 225 researchers were supposed to be trained. UMNG did not participate in any of these activities. WP3 Excellent researchers for the community Leader: University of Kragujevac 3.5 Training on teaching methodology 1800 members of the Junior teaching staff (100 per seminar at each WBP university) must be trained during two one-day trainings in Teaching methodology. Task leader: University of Kragujevac 3.3.2 We are waiting for the presentation since UKG will make several presentations and I hope that we can start with these trainings in November, 2017.

WP3 Excellent researchers for the community Leader: University of Kragujevac 3.6 Developing Pilot Mentoring system for newly promoted assistant professors A pilot mentoring system will be created, and tested at least at one faculty (department) of each WBP university, with the purpose of aiding the newly promoted assistant professors to better respond to new responsibilities. This is intended as a possible response to the need of the junior teaching staff to continue receiving help and guidance from their supervisors after the completion of their PhD studies, given that this is precisely the moment that is crucial to a successful continuation of their careers. Task leader: University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade It is necessary to adopt same regulation concerning Pilot Mentoring System.

WP3 Excellent researchers for the community Leader: University of Kragujevac 3.7 Developing Pilot Mentoring system for newly promoted assistant professors Motivated by a general lack of multidisciplinarity in research in WBP universities, a workshop is organized for 50 participants at each of WB partner university to demonstrate the benefit of multidisciplinary approaches, with specific case studies of a poor and profitable research, at which also the example of the University of Nis, where a Scientific Council for Multidisciplinary Studies has been established, is offered to the remaining WBC partners. Task leader: University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade One workshop has to be organized for 50 participants at each of WB partner university to demonstrate the benefit of multidisciplinary approaches. 01.05.2018

WP3 Excellent researchers for the community Leader: University of Kragujevac 3.8 Guidebook for the young researchers A guidebook in English is prepared and published, with the purpose of helping young researchers at the starting point of their careers, containing answers to many typical questions related to publishing their first paper, browsing scientific journals’ databases, SCI lists, citation indices and impact factors, participation in scientific conferences etc. Task leader: University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade All chapters have been written and we are waiting for the reviewers reports. After that UNI will published the book and distributed to each partners 100 copies of of it. 30.01.2017
