Democracy vs. Dictatorship Activity

Directions Your table is going to have a chance to experience how different situations are handled in a democracy and a dictatorship. For each situation, discuss with your group how a democracy would handle the problem, and how a dictatorship would handle the problem. Then after discussing, answer the questions. Be prepared to share with the rest of the class.

Situation #1 A drought has caused massive food shortages. Your government must decide what to do. 1. How would a democracy handle this? 2. Predict the response from citizens. 3. How would a dictatorship handle this? 4. Predict the response from citizens.
