How We Organize Ourselves Grade 1 Dates : November KEY CONCEPTS: Function: How does it work? Causation: Why is it like it is? Change: How is it changing? An inquiry into… The interconnectedness of Human-Made systems and Communities WHAT’S HAPPENING… Central Idea Living things depend on systems to function. Lines of Inquiry Approaches to Learning Students will be using research skills and self-management skills. An inquiry into… …systems that help organize the world around us. …the needs of living things. …the interconnectedness of all living things.

What You Can Do With Your Child at Home Talk about ways to stay organized at home and the importance of it. Help them to stay organized with STAR binders, toys, clothes, etc. Students will strive to be: Learner Profile Attribute Students will work on being a thinker, balanced, and reflective. Attitudes Students will demonstrate the Learner Profile by showing confidence, curiosity, and commitment. Students should demonstrate: Success Criteria for This Unit Students will know: The interconnectedness of all living things, what living things need and what will happen if a need is removed and how they adapt to their surroundings. Students will understand that: Living things have many systems that help organize the world around us and help us to survive and thrive.
