Setting Up a Notification for a Specific Orderable Item Example – Restraints for Inpatient. When a restraint is ordered it can be set up to notify a team or a person of restraint use for a in-patient. Diet Orders – IHS does not use the Dietary Package (FH) in RPMS. Diet orders are really Nursing Orders. Dietary Staff still relies on the 24 Hour diet sheet that the cook picks up in the morning and changes are sometimes poorly communicated and patient misses a meal or diet order is not updated.

Pre-Work Determine the Flag need is real and appropriate. Intent of the Flag is to…… Determine person(s) or team to receive notification Determine a unique Orderable Item to associate with the Flag

Diet Orders The Diet order sheet is picked up three times a day and new patient meals, NPO or diet changes are not done timely. NPO, Full Liquid, Clear Liquid based on facility policy – after 48 hours needs to reassessed for advance Nutritional Support. Unique orderable item to expire in 48 hours. Cooks do not use EHR – could set up an additional notification/flag to PRINT on kitchen printer

Diet Orders - Generic

Generic Order - 2

Setting Up Flag For New Diet Order Reviewed all Diet Orders and made sure they have the same orderable item Diet

Determine Recipients Dietary Printer RD Team – RDs and Diet Technicians
