Introduction To Chemistry and Physics Chapter 1.1 What is physical science?
Physical Science Chemistry Physics
What is physical science? Physical science – is the study of the matter and energy. Matter – anything that has mass and takes up space Energy – is used to make things move. For example, we use energy to move.
Two areas of physical science: Chemistry – is the study of matter and how it changes. (it explains how cake rises or how acid rain forms; chemistry allows for new medicines, food, clothing, fragrances and soaps). Physics – is the study of energy and how it acts with matter. (it explains how helium balloons rise or how lasers work; physics allows for new TV, cells, radios, computers, space satellites, microwaves and airplanes).
Tools of physical science Scientists do different kinds of experiments. For experiments, they need different tools. -balance scale -burner -beaker -tuning fork -battery -spring scale -pulleys -graduated cylinder -thermometer -test tube
