"יום ראשון של הדקלים" תהלוכה לזכר הגעתו של ישו לירושלים פסחא, 4 באפריל 2004 Palm Sunday in Jerusalem Commemorating the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem Easter, April 4th 2004

הפסחא (Easter) הוא אחד החגים החשובים במסורת הנוצרית, ועניינו ימיו האחרונים של ישו, ותחייתו לאחר הצליבה. יום הפסחא עצמו – יום תחייתו של ישו - לעולם נחוג ביום ראשון בשבוע, ומועדו נקבע בהתאם לירח: יום א' שבא מיד אחרי הירח המלא של חודש ניסן. ליום החג עצמו קודם תהליך ממושך של הכנות וימים קדושים. אחד מהם הוא: "יום ראשון של הדקלים" – שמציין את כניסתו של ישו לירושלים טרם צליבתו. בדרכו אל העיר הוא התקבל על ידי הקהל בענפי דקלים, ומכאן שמו של יום זה. מדי שנה עורכות הכנסיות בירושלים תהלוכה המשחזרת את כניסתו של ישו, אליה נוהרים מאמינים וצליינים למכביר, וגם כמה סקרנים שבאים לראות "קצת חוץ לארץ" בעיר הקודש. In the Christian calendar, Palm Sunday is celebrated one week prior to Easter Sunday. It commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. The day is named after the palm fronds that were used to greet Jesus on his way. Every year, thousands of people follow Jesus’s footsteps in a colorful procession held in Jerusalem.

ישו הגיע לירושלים מכיוון הר הזיתים, ועל כן גם התהלוכה מתחילה בהר הזיתים, ועוברת לאורך "מסלול הכנסיות" בואכה העיר העתיקה. Jesus reached Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. This is where the procession starts, and it follows the “Churches Path” toward the Old City of Jerusalem.

אחת התופעות המעניינות בהקשר לתהלוכה היא שירת ה-"Hosanna" שמשלב קהל הצועדים בעודו מנופף בענפי הדקל. מזכיר לכם משהו ? בחג סוכות חוגגים אנו את הושענא רבה, ונושאים את הלולבים בעודנו קוראים "הושע נא" לבקשת ישועה מאלוהים... הקהל שקיבל את פניו של ישו היה יהודי, וקרא לעברו קריאות "הושע נא" כיאה לביאת משיח. הצליל המקורי של הקריאה נשמר ע"י כותבי הברית החדשה, ועד היום קוראים המאמינים קריאה זו... It is interesting to note that the “Hosanna” call, made during the chanting, is similar to the Hebrew word “Hosha’ na”, which is a call for God’s salvation. This call is made during the Jewish festival of Sukkot, while waving palm fronds. The crowd who greeted Jesus in Jerusalem was Jewish, and called “Hosha’ na” out to him, asking for salvation from a Messiah. The original sound of the call was kept by the translators of the New Testament, and so it is used to this day.
