What’s the problem? Violence is killing our future. We know this is a nationwide problem, and you’ve seen the news. There is not one kind of violence. There are many types of violence affecting everyone, from assault to bullying. Did you know? 22% of young people witness a shooting each year 692,000 young people are treated in Emergency Rooms each year due to violence 27% of young people are bullied in school 6 to 7 young people are killed by violence each day 44% of sexual assault victims are under 18 years of age 52% of young people report having been bullied online

WE CAN STOP IT! These statistics are not OK. Job Corps students want to help break these numbers and be part of the solution!

What is Y2Y? Be part of the solution! Job Corps students decided to organize and take action around the issue of preventing youth violence in the United States. Youth 2 Youth: Partners 4 Peace, or Y2Y, is a student-led initiative to prevent violence and aggression in our community and nationwide. The Y2Y website is www.JobCorpsY2Y.com. Check it out to stay up to date, utilize resources, and read the blog to see what we are doing across the country. There is even a section where students can share a story about how violence has affected them or how they have overcome violence in their lives. Be part of the solution! Created and led by Job Corps students. www.JobCorpsY2Y.com

TALK. EMPOWER. SHARE. Y2Y Seeks to … The Y2Y initiative seeks to: Talk about violence and aggression in our community. Empower one another to prevent violence and aggression. Share stories and talk about solutions to help others prevent violence and aggression.

Y2Y Week Begins Monday, September 14, and ends Friday, September 18, 2015. Student-led, staff-guided. Launch Y2Y on center and in the community. Begins Monday, September 14, and ends Friday, September 18, 2015. During this time, we will continue to introduce and spread Y2Y in our local community. Leading up to the week, we will organize, plan, and collaborate ideas with one another for carrying out the Y2Y message. This is an ongoing campaign. Y2Y Week is a special week of awareness to jump-start everything, but Y2Y will be an ongoing initiative for students.

How can you get involved? Support. Join. Meet. Help. After our on-center launch, we will connect with our communities to get involved. Communities can partner with us to: Support our efforts on center. Join us for Y2Y Week events. Meet with our Y2Y committee on campus. Help us think of other ways to be more involved in the community.
