Solar Energy

How is a greenhouse similar to Earth’s atmosphere? People use greenhouses to grow plants during the winter of the plant seeds in the spring so they can germinate and be planted outside when the weather gets warmer. A greenhouse is a building whose walls and ceiling are made of glass or clear plastic. A greenhouse stays warm on the inside even when it is cold outside. Draw a diagram to show how this occurs. When solar energy enters the Earth’s atmosphere it can have 3 potential outcomes: 1) Reflects off the atmosphere and returns to space 2) Absorbed by Earth’s land and water 3) Reflects off Earth’s surface but is absorbed by greenhouse gases and re-radiated back to earth This process is known as the greenhouse effect
