Gifts, Fundraising & Solicitations: cdc (Local), fj (Local), ge (local)

Gifts & Solicitations: cdc (Local) Prohibition on crowdfunding The Board delegates to the Superintendent the authority to accept unsolicited gifts. Board approval is required for gifts of real property and gifts with strings attached (requiring that the District use it for a specified purpose). Considerations for accepting a gift Consistency with District goals, philosophy, objectives Ongoing costs; support for a program the District could not afford when the donation is exhausted Equitable funding Changes to buildings

Student Fundraising: FJ (Local) Students may fundraise for school or non-school charitable purposes, with supervision. Participation in fundraisers is voluntary. No fundraisers during class time (previously no fundraisers during school hours) May sell candy, beverages when exceptions apply

Relationships with Parent Organizations: GE (Local) When fundraising, booster/support organizations must: comply with District administrative regulations in fundraising; and notify principal before fundraising or soliciting gifts. Removes requirement that booster/support organizations notify principal before fundraising to buy equipment for schools.

Educator/Employee Misconduct: CJ (Local) and DC (Local)

Contracted Services and Sexual Misconduct: CJ (Local) New policy Required to comply with ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) No good references for sexual predators Prohibits District employee from assisting a contractor/agent of any school district in getting a new job if the employee knows that the contractor/agent engaged in sexual misconduct regarding a minor or student Does not prohibit “routine transmission of an administrative file”

Paid Suspension of Educators: DFAA (Local), dfba (local), dfca (local)

Paid Suspension: DFAA (Local) & dfba (local) Streamlines language for suspending employees with pay Requires that Superintendent place employee on paid administrative leave (previously Superintendent or designee)

Expense Reimbursement: DEE (LOCAL) Streamlines policy language Removes redundant requirements that reimbursements comply with law Allows employee’s supervisor (not just immediate supervisor) to approve reimbursements

Homeschool Students & Compulsory Attendance: FEA (LOCAL) Homeschooled students are exempt from compulsory attendance laws to the same extent as students in private schools. Upon withdrawal, parents may provide either a statement of withdrawal or a letter stating the date homeschooling began. The District may request a letter of assurance from the parents that the homeschool curriculum is sufficient.

Wellness policy: ffa (local) Wellness policy revised to comply with federal regulations Student Health Advisory Counsel (SHAC) to involve District and community stakeholders in developing its strategies, techniques, and guidelines. Sets requirements for Wellness Plan and goals for food services Establishes goals for nutrition education and physical activity
