The Simple Present Tense of the verbs

The use of Simple Present Tense Verbs We use the Simple Tense of regular or irregular verbs when describing a daily action, something we do regularly and/or when we talk in a general sense. What is special about this tense is that the verbs always take a « S » in the 3rd person singular. I LISTEN to t.v.. I READ a book. I DO my bed He LISTENS to t.v.. He READS a book. She MEMORIZES her vocabulary.

Exceptions for 3rd person singular If a verb finishes with « y » and is preceeded by a consonant we have to change the « y » for an « i » and add _es. To study becomes She STUDIES He CRIES To cry becomes

An other exception If the verb finishes with the lettre « o », « x », « s », « sh » or « ch » we have to add __es to ending of the verb. To go = goes To mix = mixes To miss = misses To wash = washes To catch = catches
