Immune Differentiation and Pathogen Detection Mechanisms Dr. Nichols EMCC

Essential Questions! How do our bodies mount a defense against the relentless assault from foreign pathogens? What mechanisms are in place to maximize cellular energy efficiency while maintaining a healthy tissue homeostasis?

Concept 1: Types of Immunity

Innate Versus Adaptive

Common Cold Case Study Break down the days after exposure into groupings however you’d like. Explain what the immune system is doing at these groupings you made, along with what symptoms are most likely during this stage. Which WBC types are most likely helping fight at each time grouping.

Concept 2: Transition from Innate to Adaptive

Concept 3: Defense Mechanisms and WBC Profiles

Concept 4: B-Cells (A special Lymphocyte)

Types of Antibodies
