The Wall Street Journal (2014) listed Saimaa as one of the five greatest lakes in the world. Easy to reach, 200 km from the capital Helsinki. Lappeenranta is a traditional international cross-point. Only 30 km from the Russian border.
LUT CAMPUS AREA LUT has a unique campus by the lake. Located only 200 metres from Lake Saimaa. Shares the campus with Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and Technopolis (a company offering office space for people and businesses in five countries in the Nordic-Baltic region).

These figures exclude Finnish nationals. A total of 17.5% of the entire staff are international, if all those who are either foreign nationals or whose nationality is Finnish but whose native language is other than Finnish are included. At the beginning of 2015, there were 33 double degree partners at the Master’s level (24 from Russia) and 18 doctoral double degree cooperation agreements.
