BELL WORK 9/6/2015- GET YOUR COMP BOOK! An engineer is designing a toilet that is supposed to save water with each flush.  The amount of water used will depend on the deposit amount.  Which of the following should the engineer not consider while designing the prototype?​ ​ The amount of water held in the reservoir​ The color of the model​ The cost of materials​ The ease of installation

ask Marty was playing fetch with his dog Buddy after school one day. “Buddy never gets tired of playing this game no matter how long we play it!” Marty thought. Marty’s arm begins to get tired from throwing the ball over and over again. He wonders if there’s some way he can still play fetch with Buddy, while giving his arm a break at the same time.

imagine Marty uses the internet to search for dog toys associated with fetch. He finds a product called the Super Launcher 2000 that allows you to throw the ball over 100 feet with very little effort. Marty reads some reviews on the product that say it doesn’t work very well. He thinks he can build something better. “Maybe I can build my own launcher using a design similar to a sling shot,” Marty thinks to himself.

plan Marty decides to build a tennis ball launcher that works very similar to a sling shot. He sketches several versions and weighs the pros and cons of each design. He then picks the best design and creates a shopping list of all the supplies and materials he will need to build this launcher.

create Marty spends his Saturday morning building a prototype for his tennis ball launcher. He finally completes the prototype around lunch time and decides to take Buddy to the park to test it out. At the park, Marty uses the launcher to throw the tennis ball about 90 feet away. Marty plays fetch with Buddy for over an hour and never notices his arm getting tired. “Success!” Marty exclaims.

improve Marty does notice that his prototype tennis ball launcher could use a better grip on the handle. He thinks to himself, “This product is great, but maybe if I add a cushion to the handle it could be even better.” He modifies the handle on his new prototype.
