1.27 Warm Up In 4-5 sentences, describe the positives and negatives of the Columbian Exchange.

Answer The Columbian Exchange resulted in an increase of trade and was the first step toward globalization. New foods and crops were exchanged between the Old World and the New. Some negatives, however, were that many species became extinct, and diseases from the Old World devastated Native American populations.

1.27 Warm Up Describe Hammurabi's Code and explain its significance.

Answer Hammurabi's code was a very harsh set of laws in Ancient Babylonia. It had very specific punishments for very specific crimes. It was the first set of laws that were written down. This is significant because now everyone knew the laws so no one could manipulate them. This was especially good for the lower class of the social hierarchy because there write were protected in print.

Task! Read through the packet information on the History of the Colony and annotate up that text! When you get to the theories, do the same, however you need to be EVALUATING each theory. After you finish the theories you need to choose the one you feel is most credible. You have 20 minutes.
