History The Meteorological Society of the Republic of China was established at Qingdao, Shandong on October 10, 1924. The original name of the Society is “ The Chinese Meteorological Society”, and Dr. Bing-Ran Chiang was the Chairman. The Society moved to Institute of Meteorology, Academia Sinica at Nanjing in 1929 and Dr. Ke-Zhen Zhu was the Chairman. In 1937, the Society moved with the Institute to Chongqing, Sichuan due to the 2nd World War. The Society moved back to Nanjing in 1945 and to Taipei, Taiwan in 1949 with the KMT government. Dr. Bing-Ran Chiang was elected as the first president of the council in August, 1958. The Society was renamed as “The Meteorological Society of the Republic of China” in 1972.

The council (15) is elected by all the member of MSROC and served 2 years term. President is elected by the council member and can be re-elected just once. Secretary General is assigned by the President.
Publications Terrestrial, Atmospheric, and Oceanic Sciences (SCI), published quarterly (CGU) Journal Atmospheric Science (in Chinese with English abstract), published quarterly. Bulletin of MSROC, published annually.
Awards Best Paper Award of Dr. Shar-Qian HUANG, papers selected from TAO and Atmos Sci (in Chinese) published by the Society. Scholarship of Mr. Yien-Hwai LIU for students of Meteorological community Scholarship of Mr. Bao-Kang WONE for students of Military meteorological community Best Reviewer Award for Atmos Sci Chinese journal of the Society.
