“Lord, If It is You…” Matthew 14:25-29
Only Christ has such power And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea… Matthew 14:26a
Only Christ has such power 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” 16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
Only Christ has such power 18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
Only Christ has such power 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Matthew 14:15-21
Only Christ has such power 23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Only Christ has such power 27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:23-27
Only Christ has such authority And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17
“…command me…”
Only God and Christ can command the Christian. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18
Only God and Christ can command the Christian. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13
Only God and Christ should be able to command the Christian. 42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. John 12:42-43
Only God and Christ should be able to command the Christian. To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:79
“…to come to you.”
Only Christ gives the right to man to come to Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13
Only Christ gives the right to man to come to Him. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Acts 20:30
Only Christ gives the right to man to come to Him. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
Only God can add someone to the body of Christ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47
Only God can add someone to the body of Christ 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:26-27
Lessons for us today.
Man must follow Him who has all authority & power. to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:14
If we want to see Christ “If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:15
If we want to see Christ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
Conclusion We can be like Peter, we can be followers of Christ when we acknowledge His power & authority. Peter, waited on the commands of Christ, and acted based upon His commands. Today we can be part of God’s family by obeying those same commands.
