Presentation transcript:

Wednesday and Thursday, April 17 and 18, 2013 Daily Learning Target: I can read increasingly challenging text to evaluate the influences. I can distinguish the theme of an increasingly challenging text. I can evaluate the author’s use of parallel plots/subplots. I can distinguish the conventions of dramatic literature (characterization) to assess how they express a writer’s meaning.

Bell Ringer Why is Creon upset about the burial of Polyneices? Why is the guard much more eager to speak to Creon during scene 2? How does Antigone react when interrogated by Creon? What does Ismene do that upsets Antigone?

Group Activity Gallery Walk: At each poster, your group will respond to the topic. Use examples from the text if needed. Make sure that all members in the group participate. If you agree with another group, put a star beside the response. Topics…. Universal Theme: Conflicts: man vs. ????? and explain Predictions for future scenes: What do you think will happen and why? I can read increasingly challenging text to evaluate the influences. I can distinguish the theme of an increasingly challenging text.

Scene 3 and 4 Read Scene 3 and 4 Watch Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqs-OnK6Gsw I can read increasingly challenging text to evaluate the influences.

Character Activity You will be given a character. You must create at least 5 objects: (draw pictures, create 3-d objects, use magazine clippings,-be creative!) that represent your given character. Each object must have a written explanation! I can distinguish the conventions of dramatic literature (characterization) to assess how they express a writer’s meaning.

Exit Slip Explain the subplots that are present throughout the play. Remember it is not just the burial….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbCQKVGPXgo I can evaluate the author’s use of parallel plots/subplots.
